Messages
Messages is for telling residents something: a contractor is coming, the water will be off, the lift is out. You choose who, write what, and each resident gets it the way they have. Every send is recorded with who got it and how.
The wizard
Messages in the sidebar, then New message (/messages/new). Three steps on one page.
1. Who
- Whole building: every resident of every enabled flat.
- One floor: pick a floor. Floors are set on the Apartments page ("1-8" is "Ground floor"); the wizard says so if none are set yet.
- Chosen flats: tick the flats. Disabled flats are never included.
2. What
Start from a template: A contractor is coming, Water off, Fire alarm test, Lift out of service, or Something else. Fill in who is coming, where, the date, the reason, and from and to; the subject and the text are filled from the template and stay editable. The preview shows what will go out. The text is limited to 2000 characters.
3. How
- Telegram to everyone who has linked it, and email to everyone with an address, always.
- A text to residents who have neither, always. Text everyone sends a text to every resident as well.
- Put it on the status board: choose the item and the status (Attention or Out of service) and a clears-on date.
- Keep it as a notice on the hub, with the same clears-on date as its expiry.
Send. The result says how many of the residents got it somewhere ("Sent to 5 of 6 residents"), and the message's page lists each recipient with the channels used, or "none" for a resident who could not be reached.
Past messages
Messages lists the last hundred sends with the audience, the subject, when, and how many were reached. Open one for the text and the recipient list.
From an issue
On an issue page, Tell residents opens the wizard already filled in: the audience is the reporting flat, or its floor when the problem is in a shared space, or the whole building for the front door, outside or the lift; "where" is the issue's location; "who" is the trade the job was sent to. The send is noted in the issue's thread ("Message sent to the ground floor: ...").
Messages are one way
A message does not open a conversation. Residents reply through their portal: a report, or a comment on an existing thread. The template text says so.
